AVON, Ohio – Following a stout week at the plate, Taylor pitcher and first baseman Joe Moran earned his second weekly honor of the season, being named the Crossroads League Baseball Player-of-the-Week. The senior also won Crossroads League Pitcher-of-the-Week honors back in late February.
Moran did it all for the Trojans in their six games against No. 19 Indiana Wesleyan and Spring Arbor, batting .500 with three home runs, nine runs batted in, two doubles, five runs scored, and two steals. Additionally, Moran was light outs in his start against Spring Arbor on Friday, striking out 11 Cougars over 7.2 innings of work and allowing just one run.
The Anderson University transfer dominated Spring Arbor at the dish on Saturday, hitting a combined 6-for-9 with three home runs, which included two three-run blasts, four runs scored, and seven RBI. With his three round trippers against the Cougars, Moran is now tied for first in the Crossroads League with 12 home runs on the season.
Moran's second Player-of-the-Week honor gives Taylor its 25th weekly award in 2020-2021.
No. 21 Taylor (33-12, 22-6 CL) will be back at Winterholter Field on Friday afternoon, taking on Saint Francis (28-16, 18-10 CL) in the first two games of a four-game set. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 pm.
