TU Football Leads Nation with 14 NAIA Scholar-Athletes

KANSAS CITY – The top-ranked academic football program in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics added another honor recently, as Taylor led the NAIA with 14 Scholar-Athletes.
Wilson Alexander, John Beeghly, Wynn Coggin, Zach Hershberger, Kennedy Hill, Hans Lundberg, Steven Medlock, Tyler Mills, Caleb Nicley, Cody Schwerin, Andrew Sheard, Brian Taylor, Jake Venable and Dustin Wanner were all named as NAIA Scholar-Athletes for Taylor.
In order to be eligible to be named an NAIA Scholar-Athlete, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade-point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved junior academic status at their current institution.
Taylor's 14 NAIA Scholar-Athletes topped the group of 12 from Grand View, Baker and Cumberland for the highest output in the nation, one year after ending fourth in the nation with eight scholar-athletes in 2013. TU has also posted the highest team grade-point average in the NAIA over each of the past two seasons and ranked second in the NAIA with three Capital One Academic All-America honors this fall.
