SCOUTING TAYLOR: The Trojans enter Saturday's Homecoming clash with Madonna needing a fast start to snap their current skid. Slow starts have plagued Taylor, especially in its three MSFA Mideast League affairs. In those three games, TU has been outscored by 55 points in the first half and just 13 points in the second. The difference has been the defense, where Taylor has allowed 38 fewer points after the break.
SCOUTING MADONNA: The Crusaders have struggled to find momentum in their young four-year history, having gone 1-30 all-time, with their lone win coming via a forfeit. Madonna has struggled on offense this season, having found the end zone only three times this year and ranking next to last in the NAIA with 4.0 points per game.
LAST MEETING: Taylor topped Madonna, 52-23, to highlight its 2022 Homecoming Weekend inside Turner Stadium. The Trojans scored the game's first 24 points and rolled to the win with 323 yards on the ground and three defensive takeaways. Dylan Scally led the way with 88 yards and two scores on the ground, while Reese Pinckney and Hojun Yun each hauled in one interception.
SERIES HISTORY: Taylor is 3-0 all-time against Madonna on the gridiron. TU is 2-0 against MU under third-year head coach Aaron Mingo.
LAST TIME OUT: Taylor lost a tough one at Siena Heights, as the Saints broke off a 51-yard run and kicked a game-winning field goal on the final two plays of the game to hand the Trojans a 24-21 defeat. TU ran for 300 yards in the game, highlighted by 91 yards on just five touches from Stephen Ellis, while David Worlds paced the defense with 10 tackles and four passes broken up.
LOOKING AHEAD: The Trojans will stay home to host No. 5 Marian on Saturday, October 28 at 1:00 pm. TU's final home date is set for Senior Day at 1:00 pm on November 11 against Saint Francis.
