Messer Earns MSFA Weekly Honor
UPLAND, Ind. – The Mid-States Football Association announced its Mideast League Players of the Week on Monday, with RV Taylor's Reid Messer being named the MSFA Mideast League Defensive Player of the Week.
Messer highlighted a strong defensive showing by Taylor in its 42-10 win at Defiance on Saturday, October 18. The junior safety posted a career-high with 10 tackles in the win and added his fifth career interception, which he returned 50 yards to stop DC's opening drive.
The MSFA Player-of-the-Week honor is the first of the season for Messer and the second of his three-year career with the Trojans. TU football has now garnered seven MSFA weekly honors from four different athletes this season, with Messer joining Nathan Parker, Lucas Shilts and Caleb Ranzau as the four Trojans to be recognized.
Messer joined Eliza Luttrell (women's soccer) and Eleanor Schuitema (women's golf) in receiving a player-of-the-week award for Taylor on Monday, moving TU's total number of weekly awards from the 2025-2026 year to 22 from the Crossroads League and MSFA.
Messer and the RV Trojans (4-3, 1-0 MSFA) will return to action on Saturday, October 25 in a 1:00 pm start at Lawrence Tech (1-5, 0-1 MSFA).
