Trojans Blank LTU in Historic Win
SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – RV Taylor's second-straight road win and fifth victory of the season was never in doubt on Saturday, as the Trojans dispatched Lawrence Tech (1-6, 0-2 MSFA) by a 63-0 margin. The Trojans made history, setting a new single-game program record for total yards in the victory.
Taylor piled up 29 first downs and 651 total yards of offense in the rout, going eight-for-11 on third downs and one-for-one of fourths to keep its offense on the field. TU averaged 9.6 yards per play, dominating on the ground once again with 8.4 yards per carry and 429 rushing yards on 51 attempts. The Purple and Gray had five different players with at least 59 yards rushing.
The Trojans turned in a dominant showing on the defensive side of the ball as well, limiting LTU to 11 first downs and 202 total yards of offense. TU held the hosts to 3.4 yards per snap overall and to just 31 rushing yards on 31 carries, while piling up a season-best eight sacks and adding 12 tackles for a loss.
Jedidiah Galvin highlighted the offense with a career-day for the Purple and Gray, ripping off 129 yards on just five carries and finding the end zone for two of TU's nine touchdowns. Nathan Parker added two more scores and 81 yards on 16 attempts, with Ethan Albert and Colton Frank each adding one touchdown. Kyle Turanchick made his return to the field and averaged 7.4 yards on nine carries for 67 yards.
Additional touchdowns came from Aidan Zimmer, Josh Ellman and Nathan Munson with one receiving score each.
On the defensive side of the ball, 28 different Trojans recorded at least one stop, with Levi Brown and Seth Tolliver leading the way with five tackles each. Thad Thoman paced the team with two sacks.
RV Taylor (5-3, 2-0 MSFA) will return to action with a home tilt against No. 14 Indiana Wesleyan (5-2, 1-0 MSFA) on Saturday, November 1 at noon inside Turner Stadium.
