Hubbard and Penha Earn All-Crossroads League Honors

UPLAND, Ind. – The most prolific scoring duo for the Taylor men's basketball program during the Josh Andrews era took home All-Crossroads League recognition on Wednesday, with Jason Hubbard earning a spot on the All-CL First-Team and CJ Penha being named Second-Team All-CL.
Hubbard and Penha were each among the top-12 vote recipients in the league, while Hubbard also earned Crossroads League All-Defensive team hardware for a second-straight year and became TU's first player under Andrews to earn First-Team All-CL status.
Hubbard was named First-Team All-Crossroads League and All-Defensive Team after posting career-bests of 19.2 points, 7.8 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game, as well as with a 51.3-percent clip from the floor. The Miamisburg, Ohio native led the Trojans in rebounding and was second in scoring, while also ranking No. 28 among all NAIA athletes with 461 total points at the close of the regular season.
Hubbard's numbers put him near the top of several statistical categories in the Crossroads League, ranking third with nine double-doubles, fifth in rebounds per game, fifth with 1.2 blocks per game and eighth in points per game, field goal percentage and a 79.7-percent rate at the charity stripe. Hubbard closed the regular season as the only player in the Crossroads League to rate among the league's top-eight performers in each statistic.
Penha earned All-Crossroads League honors for a third-straight year, taking his highest award yet with the Second-Team nod. Penha set new personal bests with 20.1 points, 2.0 assists and 1.0 blocks per outing, as well as with a 54.7-percent rate from the floor and 38.3-percent clip from deep. The Pickerington, Ohio native led TU in scoring and field goal percentage and was second with 7.1 rebounds per night, while closing his season ranked No. 27 in the NAIA with 462 points.
Penha joined Hubbard near the top of several Crossroads League leaderboards, ranking fifth in field goals percentage, sixth in scoring, seventh in blocks, seventh with six double-doubles and ninth in rebounds per game and was one of three players in the CL to score at least 35 points in a game twice this season.
The Trojans finished the 2020-2021 season at 11-14 overall and 5-11 within the Crossroads league. TU is set to bring back three starters and 13 lettermen from that squad, with Hubbard and Penha returning for their senior seasons.
