Hubbard Tabbed as National Player of the Week
KANSAS CITY – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics announced its men's basketball National Player-of-the-Week on Tuesday morning, with Taylor's Jason Hubbard earning the prestigious award.
The national award is the first of Hubbard's career and the first for TU men's basketball since Nate Kasper earned the award in 2013. Hubbard is the first player to take home the award under coach Josh Andrews.
The award comes on the heels of averaging a double-double with 25.5 points and 11 rebounds, for Taylor in victories over Miami-Middletown and No. 2 Grace. Hubbard shot 56.7 percent from the field, 33.3 percent from beyond the arc, and 82.3 percent from the charity stripe to showcase his scoring on all three levels while playing 35.5 minutes per contest.
The Miamisburg, Ohio native was selected among a pool of 21 total candidates for the National Player-of-the-Week honor.
Hubbard's NAIA National Athlete-of-the-Week award is the third for Taylor athletes in 2022-2023, joining volleyball player Ryan Czerniak and women's cross country runner Noel VanderWall.
Taylor (6-5, 2-3 CL) steps on the court again on Friday, December 16th, against Northwestern Ohio (3-8) on the road, with tip-off set for 7:00 pm.
