KANSAS CITY – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics recently announced its list of 2015 Daktronics-NAIA Men's Soccer Scholar-Athletes, with five members of the Taylor men's soccer team being named an award winner.
In order to be eligible to be named an NAIA Scholar-Athlete, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade-point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved junior academic status at their current institution. Taylor had five of its 10 eligible student-athletes receive the honor.
Josh Beachler, Rocky Byrd, Gabe Saliba, Josh Urban and Nate West were among the 382 men's soccer student-athletes from around the nation to be named as 2015 NAIA Scholar-Athletes and were five of the 35 student-athletes from the Crossroads League to be recognized.
TU closed the 2015 campaign with a 3-2 win over RV Grace back on October 24. The Trojans received votes in the pre-season men's soccer poll, and picked up the program's 300th win in a 5-2 triumph over St. Francis (IL) early in the season.
