TU Men's Soccer Grabs Three CoSIDA All-District Selections

UPLAND, Ind. – Michael Maloney, Quinn Partain and Luke Williams were each honored on Thursday by the College of Sports Information Directors of America, as the trio was named to the CoSIDA Google Cloud Academic All-District II NAIA Team for men's soccer.
The Trojans landed three selections out of 11 men's soccer student-athletes from the NAIA to receive the honor from District II, which consists of all NAIA schools within the states of Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana and Tennessee. TU and Spring Arbor paced the NAIA with three honorees.
Maloney boasts a 3.71 grade-point average with a major in engineering. The senior defender started in 18 matches in 2019 and posted the game-winning golden goal in a 2-1 win over RV Grace.
Partain maintains a 3.89 cumulative GPA, while majoring in computer science at Taylor. The sophomore appeared in all 19 contests on the back line for TU and provided a free kick to take down Lourdes in overtime.
TU goalkeeper, Williams, majors in finance, while carrying a 3.85 GPA and recorded 99 saves during the 2019 campaign to rank 17th in the NAIA. The Indianapolis, Indiana native nabbed at least eight saves in five contests, while also picking up four shutouts in his senior campaign.
The trio was joined by Megan Williams, Reyna Williams, Jourdan Lehman, Linli Tu and Riley Massey in earning CoSIDA Google Cloud Academic All-District honors on Thursday and will advance to the ballot for the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team, which will be announced on November 12.
The CoSIDA Google Cloud Academic All-District award is designed to recognize student-athletes for outstanding achievements in the classroom, as well as on the court or field of play. In order to be eligible for the honor, an athlete must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.30 or higher on a 4.0 scale, must have achieved sophomore status academically with at least one full year at their current institution and must have participated in over half of the team's competitions as a key contributor during the current season.
Student-athletes are nominated for the award by their institution's Sports Information Department and voted on by CoSIDA members from around the nation.
