INDIANAPOLIS - The Crossroads League's 2015-2016 Preseason All-Crossroads League Team and Coaches Poll was announced at the league's annual media day on Monday, with Taylor's Cassidy Wyse picking up preseason recognition.
Wyse was one of 15 student-athletes to earn Preseason All-Crossroads League honors and was selected to the Second-Team as she enters her sophomore season. The Archbold, Ohio native earned All-Crossroads League Honorable Mention last season and was tabbed as the Crossroads League Freshman of the Year.
Wyse led Taylor in scoring, assists and steals, and finished second on the team in rebounds during the 2014-15 season. The 5-foot-10-inch forward averaged 13.2 points, 6.6 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game in her freshman campaign, while scoring in double-figures in 20 games and posting five double-doubles.
Wyse will be joined this year by a talented incoming freshman class highlighted by 4A Colorado Player of the Year, Kendall Bradburry. Wyse is also joined by fellow sophomore, and member of last year's Crossroads League All-Freshman Team, Josie Cobb, who started in all 31 games for the Trojans last year and knocked down 43 3-pointers.
Taylor posted second-year head coach Kelly Packard's first winning season last year with a 16-15 record, and will look to improve on that mark as TU returns five starters from last year's squad. Picked in the preseason poll to finish sixth in the Crossroads League, Packard and the Trojans will look for leadership from the team's three seniors, Taylor Degenkolb, Emma Brattain and Monica Compton, who missed all last season with a shoulder injury.
TU will open its 2015-2016 season at Judson on October 31 at 1:00 p.m. before returning to Odle Arena for a three-game homestand against Georgetown, Indiana Tech and Cincinnati Christian.
