Four Trojans Named CoSIDA Academic All-District

UPLAND, Ind. –Taylor University women's basketball team members Kendall Bradbury, Abby Buchs, Becca Buchs and Cassidy Wyse were named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District II College Team, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday.
The CoSIDA Academic All-District award is designed to recognize student-athletes for outstanding achievements in the classroom, as well as on the field or court of play. In order to be eligible for the honor, an athlete must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.30 or higher on a 4.0 scale, have reached sophomore status academically and have participated in over half of the team's competitions during the current season.
Student-athletes are nominated for the award by their institution's Sports Information Director and voted on by CoSIDA members from around the nation.
The four Trojans accounted for nearly half of the nine spots on the All-District II College Team and tallied more selections than any other school in the College Division, which includes all NAIA, Canadian and two-year institutions. Bradbury, Buchs, Buchs and Wyse were also the only four women's basketball players from the Crossroads League to earn the honor.
Bradbury earned the honor for a second year in-a-row, after being named All-District a year ago. The junior owns a 3.44 cumulative grade-point average as an exercise science major and paces the Trojans with career-highs of 23.8 points, 10.2 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. The Highlands Ranch, Colorado native also broke TU's 14-year-old record for most points in a season and became the third player in TU women's basketball history to reach 2,000 career points.
Abby Buchs earned the honor in her first year of eligibility as a sophomore, with a 3.89 grade-point average as a double-major in finance and accounting. The Angola, Indiana native has played in 31 games this season, averaging career-highs of 6.7 points and 2.7 rebounds per game.
Becca Buchs also garnered the honor as a sophomore in her first year of eligibility, boasting a 3.91 grade-point average as a finance major. The Angola, Indiana native has made 31 appearances on the season, averaging career-highs of 6.1 points and 2.2 rebounds per game.
Wyse earned the honor as a senior, posting a 3.74 grade-point average as a mathematics education major. The Archbold, Ohio native is averaging a career-high 13.7 points per game, while adding 6.1 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game in 31 contests this season.
Bradbury, Buchs, Buchs and Wyse bring Taylor's total number of CoSIDA Academic All-District honorees up to 20 for the 2017-2018 school year and will now be placed on the national ballot for the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team, which will be announced on March 15.
