TU Takes Second at Purgatory Intercollegiate
NOBLESVILLE, Ind. – The Taylor women's golf team collected its best finish of the season on Saturday with a second place finish at the Purgatory Intercollegiate played at Purgatory Golf Club.
The Trojans entered Saturday's final round trailing Olivet Nazarene by two shots and the Trojans and Tigers battled throughout the day before ONU managed to pull ahead in the final holes to claim a three shot victory over the Trojans.
Freshman Maddie Thomas earned a spot on the all-tournament team with a tie for fifth place and a two-day total of 169 (87-82). Sophomore Elizabeth Jackson carded the low round of the tournament for the Trojans with a tally of 79 during the final round. Jackson's strong finish vaulted her into a tie for seventh place with senior Brittany Pfaff at 171. Sophomore Raquel Helton also collected a top ten finish with a tie for ninth at 172 (85-87) while freshman Annie Stimmel finished tied for 14th at 176 (87-89)
Junior Grace Elenbaas collected her first top ten finish of the season following a strong final round of 83 en route to a two-day total of 172 while competing as an individual. Freshman Lauren Murphy finished 18th with a two-day total of 182 (95-87) while classmate Alexis Harris showed improvement with a final round score of 97 to finish in 29th place.
The Trojans will return to action on April 3-4 at the Broadmoor Invitational at Broadmoor Country Club in Indianapolis.
