Frey Named CL Attacker of the Week After Incredible AMFM Tournament

JACKSON, Mich. – The Crossroads League released its Athletes of the Week on Monday, and Ellie Frey was named the Attacker of the Week for the second time this season after powering Taylor to a perfect 4-0 record at the Amber McClure Fayerweather Tournament.

Frey was electric over the weekend, amassing 80 kills in four victories for the Trojans. The Fort Wayne, Indiana became the first Taylor player to total 30 or more kills in a match since 2009 in a five-set win over Pikeville. The transfer hit .318 and had three double-double as she had 52 digs, eight blocks and four aces without an error in an all-around terrific showing.

The junior outside hitter sits atop the Crossroads League with 205 kills and 4.66 kills per set in the young season. Frey also sits second in the NAIA in total kills and seventh in kills per set as she is showing she is one of the top hitters in the NAIA this season. Frey and the Trojans upset No. 19 Missouri Baptist and defeated RV Indiana Tech in an impressive weekend for the Crossroads League title contenders.

RV Taylor (9-3) begins Crossroads League play on Wednesday, September 3, against Goshen (4-6) on the road with the first set schedule to start at 7:00 pm.
