NAIA Volleyball Top-25
UPLAND, Ind. – The Purple and Gray moved up one spot to No. 21 in the latest NAIA Rankings released on Wednesday morning.
Taylor has seen a steady rise in the rankings this season, receiving votes in the preseason poll before jumping into the rankings and slowly working their way up to No. 21.
A split 2-2 record over the past two weeks for TU came against stiff competition, sweeping RV Spring Arbor, before dropping a pair of matches to ranked squads.
Leading the Trojan offense are Ellie Frey and Daya Vestal. Frey is second in the NAIA with 330 kills and fifth with 4.58 kills per set as the Grand Canyon transfer has been tremendous in a six-rotation role. Vestal has been the third most efficient attacker in the NAIA with a .411 hitting percentage.
An efficient offense ranks in the top-30 in the NAIA in both kills per set (13.0) and hitting percentage (.215), while a dynamic block has put up 2.1 blocks per set, good for 31st the NAIA.
The CL continues to be a national force placing four teams in the rankings and an additional two receiving votes. No. 6 Indiana Wesleyan, No. 13 Mount Vernon Nazarene, No. 22 Marian, RV Huntington, and RV Spring Arbor join the Trojans.
No. 21 Taylor (14-6, 5-3 CL) finishes the first half of Crossroads League on Wednesday, October 1 against Bethel (13-8, 5-3 CL).
