Taylor Falls in Road Match Against RV Huntington
HUNTINGTON, Ind. – Taylor traveled to RV Huntington (21-5, 9-4 CL) and could not slow down the hot-hitting Foresters in a sweep on Saturday afternoon.
Ellie Frey led the Trojan offense with 12 kills while hitting .233 in a game-high 43 swings. The transfer added ten digs, three blocks and an ace in an incredible display.
Mackenzie Gerig matched her season high in digs with 17 and Daya Vestal and Ruth Anderson chipped in with ten total kills and a pair of blocks apiece.
Taylor could not slow down the Forester attack in the opening set as the home squad used the pregame senior day festivities to take the first set 25-16 behind 12 kills and a .235 hitting percent.
The Trojans battled in the second set, including a 3-0 run in the middle to cut the deficit to 19-16 but Huntington responded and closed the set with a 25-20 win.
The third set saw TU play its best volleyball of the day, holding a 16-14 lead midway through. The wheels fell off though, as the Foresters took the next eight points and held on to win the set 25-19 for a sweep.
No. 20 Taylor (16-9, 7-6 CL) plays its next match back inside Odle Arena on Wednesday, October 22, against Spring Arbor (19-7, 6-7 CL), with the match set to start at 7:00 pm.
