NAIA Names Anderson Defender-of-the-Week
NAIA Release
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – After an incredible display at the net the past week, Ruth Anderson was named the NAIA National Defender of the Week on Tuesday.
Anderson carded an absurd 20 blocks across a pair of matches last week, averaging 2.5 blocks per set. The freshman phenom has continually stepped up her game culminating in her best week of the season.
The Newark, Ohio native collected ten blocks in each match as the Trojans swept Saint Francis before pushing No. 8 Indiana Wesleyan to extra points in a five-set thriller. Four of Anderson's blocks were solo, while the middle supplemented her 20 blocks with 17 kills.
Anderson's award is the first NAIA weekly award for Taylor volleyball since Ryan Czerniak in 2022 and the first NAIA Defender-of-the-Week honor since Samantha Korn in 2018.
RV Taylor (19-10, 10-7 CL) finishes the regular season against Bethel (16-14, 8-9 CL) on the road on Wednesday, November 5, with the match scheduled for 7:00 pm.
