Crossroads League Honors TU's Berends
Crossroads League Release
HARTFORD CITY, Ind. - Freshman Alex Berends stole the show at the first-ever Ray Bullock Invitational and has been touted as the Crossroads League Female Runner of the Week.
Berends and the No. 7 Trojans dominated the nine-team field amidst brutal heat on a challenging course. Despite the harsh conditions, the Hudsonville, Michigan native beat the field by 1:17 and logged the tenth-fasted time in TU history with a mark of 18:36.
The top finish from Berends was the first of nine top-15 performances at the meet by the Taylor squad, as the Trojans cruised to the team title by 51 points and a collective 4:37 over the second-place team.
Berends and Taylor will take a week off from competing, before heading to West Lafayette for the Indiana Intercollegiates on September 19.
