No. 3 Trojans Take Second at Season-Opener

MARION, Ind. – The Taylor University women's cross country team finished second-of-16 teams in its season opener Friday night at the Indiana Wesleyan Twilight Invitational.
The No. 3-ranked Trojans raced to a team time of 94:38 and turned in 81 points to finish second to NCAA Division II Cedarville. TU topped No. 6 Indiana Wesleyan (96) and No. 25 Bethel (247).
Juniors Sarah Harden and Livy Schroder led the pack for TU taking second and third place overall. Harden recorded an impressive time of 18:01.8. Schroder's time of 18:06.0 was a 12-second personal-best and the fifth-fastest time in TU history. Giovanna Domene also notched a top-20 finish earning 19th-place with a time of 19:14.1.
Senior Naomi Noyes and freshman Madeline Purdom rounded out TU's top-five. Noyes crossed the line at 19:36.7 to finish 29th and Purdom, close behind, recorded a time of 19:38.7 to finish 31st.
Newcomer Brooke Studnicki broke the 20-minute barrier running a time of 19:54.5 to finish 40th. Senior Taylor Bluemel placed 52nd and ran 20:07.3.
The Trojans (15-1) will return home for their next meet on Friday, September 20th.
