Taylor Baseball Collects Seven NAIA Scholar-Athlete Awards

KANSAS CITY – The Taylor University baseball team claimed seven Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athlete honors to tie for the sixth-highest total in the nation, as recently announced by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics.
In order to be named an NAIA Scholar-Athlete, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade-point average of 3.50 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved junior academic status at their current institution.
Andrew Kennedy, Nate Starcher, Justin Pettit, Collin Stump, Nathan Targgart, Tucker Waddups and Kyle Kelsheimer were among the 439 baseball student-athletes from around the nation to be named as 2019 NAIA Scholar-Athletes and were seven of the 42 student-athletes from the Crossroads League to be recognized.
Taylor's seven NAIA Scholar-Athletes ranked sixth in the nation, as the Trojans landed in the top-ten for the third-straight year.
In addition to the success in the classroom, Taylor recorded the third-highest single-season win total with a 38-18 overall record, while completing the winningest four-year stretch in program history with 157 wins.
