JACKSON, Mich. – The Crossroads League announced its last installment of weekly awards for the 2022 baseball season on Monday, and Taylor took home both Pitcher and Player of the Week awards for the second-straight week.
While utility man, Camden Knepp, repeated as the Crossroads League Player of the Week, sophomore relief pitcher, Jack Ross, picked up the first weekly-award of his young career as the league's Pitcher of the Week.
Ross was recognized for his stellar performance out of the pen late in TU's league-championship run, completing four-and-two-thirds total innings of scoreless action throughout two appearances.
The West Layafette, Indiana, native highlighted his award-winning week with a four-inning outing in which he allowed just one hit while striking out four, carving the space for Taylor to score nine-unanswered runs en route to its 12-9 Crossroads League championship win.
Meanwhile, Knepp fueled the Trojan offense in a big way throughout the final three games of the CL Tournament, picking up five hits, six RBI, and three runs in that stretch of play. Even more, Knepp drew a walk in each game along with two hit-by-pitches to bolster a .625 on-base percentage.
Knepp's second-consecutive award-winning week was highlighted by a two-hit, four-RBI performance in the CLT Semifinal game against Huntington, a game in which he broke a 5-5 tie with a two-run double to left center in the seventh inning.
Taylor athletes at large now boast a total of 44 CL or MSFA Player-of-the-Week awards during the 2021-2022 year.
No. 22 Taylor (40-17) is slated to play next on Tuesday, May 17th, when the Trojans square up with Columbia College (38-13) in an Upland Bracket Opening Round elimination game at 12:00 pm.
