WANE 15 Spotlights Homegrown Taylor Baseball Talent
WANE 15 Story | WANE 15 Televised Segment
UPLAND, Ind. – Four Fort Wayne-area Taylor baseball student-athletes were spotlighted Tuesday night on air and online by WANE 15, the CBS affiliate based out of Fort Wayne, Indiana.
WANE 15 Sports Director, Glenn Marini, visited Taylor's campus Tuesday afternoon to interview and shine a light on northeast Indiana natives Jake Boyer, Sam Gladd, Kaleb Kolpien and Gabel Pentecost – all of whom have played starring roles in helping No. 10 Taylor to a 33-8 overall mark, an .805 winning percentage that would be the best in program history.
Boyer and Pentecost, both junior right-handed pitchers, have combined to strike out 134 batters in just 92.1 innings in 2025. Their efforts have resulted in a pitching record of 13-2 with three saves.
Left-handed sluggers Gladd and Kolpien, meanwhile, have powered the Trojans to a Crossroads League-best home runs tally with their 27 total round-trippers this season. The fixtures in the middle of the TU order are batting .315 and .415, respectively, with 105 runs driven in.
