JACKSON, Mich. – Taylor University's Jake Boyer has been named Pitcher of the Week in the Crossroads League's first weekly baseball awards announcement of the season, the league office revealed Monday.
Boyer, a senior from Fort Wayne, Indiana, delivered 5.1 innings of dominant relief work in a combined one-hitter as No. 9 Taylor defeated Benedictine-Mesa 11-1. The 6-foot-4 righty struck out four batters and retired the final 11 hitters he faced while posting a 0.19 WHIP and 0.00 ERA in the outing. Boyer earned the win in the contest.
This marks the second weekly honor of Boyer's career with the Trojans, having previously received the award last season.
Boyer has been exceptional through three appearances, posting a 1-0 record with 10 strikeouts while allowing just one hit and no walks. He recorded his ninth career save in Taylor's ranked victory at Arizona Christian, striking out five batters across three perfect innings.
Boyer, a 2025 first-team all-league selection, carries a career 2.56 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 122 strikeouts with a 12-3 record across 50 mound appearances.
No. 9 Taylor returns to action Feb. 12-14 for a four-game series at RV St. Thomas in Miami Gardens, Florida.
