Taylor Extends Stay at No. 1 in NAIA Top 25 Poll
NAIA Baseball Coaches' Top 25 Poll
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Taylor University baseball squad remains the nation's top team in the GoRout NAIA Baseball Coaches' Top 25 Poll, as NAIA headquarters revealed the final edition of the regular-season coaches' poll on Wednesday afternoon.
TU (45-4) received seven first-place votes in the latest poll, while holding on to the top spot by four points over No. 2 Bellevue (44-3), who garnered six first-place votes and traded places with No. 3 Georgia Gwinnett (43-6). The Trojans collected 382 points and the second-ranked Bruins tallied 378 , followed by the Grizzlies in third at 368 points and one first-place vote.
Taylor has now appeared in 21 consecutive polls dating back to the 2023 season and has been ranked inside the top 10 in each of the last eight releases.
After matching the program-record of 24 consecutive wins, TU closed the regular season on a strong note by taking three out of four in a road series victory over No. 24 Marian. With Saturday's pair of victories, the Trojans set new program records for most regular season wins (45), most league wins (33) and most road wins (23). TU has also clinched its best overall win percentage, regardless of its finish in postseason play.
TU has now registered five straight 40-win seasons, and four consecutive 30-win seasons in league play with an overall league record of 125-19 (.868) during that span. The Trojans have not dropped a CL series in five years (46 consecutive).
Powered by one of the nation's most productive offenses, TU leads the country in team on-base percentage (.478) while ranking second in runs (547) and fourth in both team batting average (.354) and slugging percentage (.601). The pitching staff has paired that with the fourth-highest strikeout-per-nine innings (10.57) and .239 batting average-against, helping limit opponents to just 201 runs on the year.
The top-ranked Trojans return to action Thursday as the top overall seed in the Crossroads League Baseball Tournament, hosted this week by Spring Arbor.
