Sauder and Gamble Receive MSFA Recognition
UPLAND, Ind. – The Mid-States Football Association announced its Mideast League Players of the Week on Monday, with Taylor's Adam Sauder and Dovi Gamble being honored for their performances during TU's 41-27 Senior Day win against Lindenwood-Belleville.
Sauder rounded out his career on the Turner Stadium turf with 15 tackles, notching nine stops in the second half as TU held the Lynx scoreless after the opening drive of the third quarter. Sauder ended with eight solo hits and 2.5 tackles for lost yardage among his 15 stops to earn the third MSFA Mideast League Defensive Player-of-the-Week award of his career.
Gamble collected his eighth career block in 19 collegiate games on special teams to go with five tackles, a hit for negative yardage, two passed defended and an interception to collect the fifth career MSFA Mideast League Special Teams Player-of-the-Week honor of his career. Gamble's blocked punt led to a go-ahead score by TU in the closing seconds of the opening half and his interception in the end zone turned away a threat by LU-Belleville in the fourth quarter.
Taylor has now received seven MSFA Mideast League Player-of-the-Week awards during the 2015 season, with Gamble being selected for the honor three times and Sauder, Dustin Wanner, Everett Pollard and Austin Gunderson each being honored once.
Taylor (6-3, 4-2 MSFA Mideast) will be trying for a fourth-straight win when it closes its 2015 season at Trinity International (2-8, 0-5 MSFA Midwest) on Saturday at 1:00 pm.
