EATON, Ohio – The Taylor University's men's soccer team earned a convincing 4-1 road victory over Indiana University East on Saturday at Eaton High School, improving to 4-1-0 overall while maintaining a perfect 3-0-0 record away from home.
Four different players scored for TU, with three first-half goals breaking the Trojans' season-long drought of early scoring. TU entered the match having scored all nine of its goals in second halves this season.
The Trojans dominated the opening 45 minutes, outshooting Indiana East 10-0 and taking a commanding 3-0 lead into halftime. Taylor finished with a 16-5 advantage in total shots, led by Noel Calix, Brock Carpenter and Josh Byrd, who each recorded two shots on goal.
Calix opened the scoring in the sixth minute with his team-leading fourth goal of the season. Jeremy Rivera doubled the advantage in the 12th minute with his first goal of the 2025 campaign.
Carpenter added his second goal of the season just before halftime, assisted by Caleb Hernandez, who earned his first collegiate point.
Justin Devlin extended the Trojans' lead to 4-0 in the 54th minute with his first goal of the season. The all-conference performer now has eight career goals and has recorded points in consecutive matches.
IU East (1-3-0) avoided the shutout with a goal in the 69th minute.
TU goalkeeper Connor Shaw improved to 4-1, setting a new single-season personal best with four wins. Shaw's career record now stands at 7-3-1.
The Trojans return home Wednesday to host Lourdes at 7 p.m. at Turner Stadium in a matchup between 4-1-0 teams.
