INDIANAPOLIS – Sophomore Cassidy Wyse was named the women's basketball Crossroads League Player of the Week on Monday as announced by the league office. It is the second time Wyse has earned Player of the Week honors in her young career at Taylor.
Wyse averaged 18 points, 12 rebounds and 4.5 assists this past week while shooting a blistering 68 percent from the field, leading the Trojans to a 2-0 record over Grace and Berea. The sophomore shot 90 percent (9-of-10) in the Crossroads League opener against Grace, scoring 20 points and grabbing nine rebounds. In the 17-point win over Berea on Saturday, Wyse was four assists shy of recording a triple-double, finishing with 16 points, a season-high 15 rebounds and six assists.
After missing the season opener at Judson with an injury, Wyse returned to the court to give TU strong production on both ends of the court. The Archbold, Ohio native currently leads the team in total assists with 22, ranks second on the team in points per game (12.8) and rebounds per game (7.0), and is shooting 53 percent (39-of-73) on the season.
Wyse and the Trojans (6-3, 1-0 CL) will be back in action on Wednesday when the team travels to Mishawaka, Indiana to take on Bethel in a 7:00 p.m. start.
