Four Trojans Earn All-Crossroads League Honors

AVON, Ohio – On Wednesday, four Trojans were recognized as 2020-2021 All-Crossroads League standouts. Lauren James highlighted the list, garnering her first First-Team All-Crossroads League honor.
Additionally, Madisyn Fischer was named Second-Team All-Crossroads League, Kayla Kirtley was selected as All-Crossroads League Honorable Mention, and Taylor Westgate was voted to the Crossroads League All-Freshman Team.
The group has led the Trojans to a 19-7 record, including an 11-5 mark in Crossroads League play, and 14 victories inside Odle Arena.
After missing all of last year due to injury, James has put together a stellar junior campaign for the Trojans. At the conclusion of the Crossroads League Tournament, James leads the team in total points scored (406), points per game (15.6), total assists (120), and assists per game (4.6). Her 87 made triples rank fourth in the NAIA, while her total assists rank eighth. The Seymour, Indiana native also set career-highs in field goal percentage (47.7 percent), three-point field goal percentage (47.3 percent), and free throw percentage (85 percent) during the regular season and league tournament.
Furthermore, the junior recorded seven 20-point games, including a career-best 32 points and 12 made field goals against Goshen on November 24, and was named Crossroads League Player of the Week three times.
In her senior season, Fischer has been a dynamic two-way player for the Trojans. The Brimfield, Illinois native is averaging career-highs in both points (11.5) and rebounds (4.4) per contest, while also making an impact on the defensive end of the floor, leading the Trojans in both steals (45) and blocks (22).
Fischer also nabbed her first Crossroads League Player of the Week honor in November, posting back-to-back, 19-point games in wins over Madonna and Asbury.
After serving as a crucial role player last season, Kirtley has thrived as a starter in her junior campaign, averaging 9.9 points and 5.4 rebounds and ranking second on the team with 140 total caroms. The Noblesville, Indiana native recorded three double-doubles for the Trojans during the regular season and scored a career-high 24 points in Taylor's win over Huntington on January 24.
In her first collegiate season, Westgate has served as one of the Trojans' top bench options. The freshman leads Taylor in total rebounds (175) and rebounds per game (6.7), while also averaging 8.6 points on an efficient 48.4 percent shooting. The former Oak Hill standout found her scoring touch as the season progressed, scoring double-digit points in seven of the Trojans' last 13 contests, including a career-high 22 against Huntington on January 20 and 19 against No. 20 Indiana Wesleyan in the Crossroads League Tournament Semifinals.
The All-Crossroads League honors are voted on by the 10 head coaches from around the league and announced by the Crossroad League office.
