Trojans Place Five on All-Crossroads League Teams

AVON, Ohio – Taylor placed five women soccer players on the All-Crossroads League Teams for their efforts during the 2018 season, as the league announced on Monday.
Savannah Porter, Erin Teevans and Bailey Zehr were Crossroads League First-Team selections, and Danielle Toren and Megan Williams were tabbed All-CL Honorable Mention.
Coaches within the league voted in 43 players on both teams, with the first-team having 24 selections and honorable mention holding 19 student-athletes.
The Trojans ended the 2018 campaign with a 12-4-4 record and 4-3-2 mark in league play. TU was awarded the fifth-seed in the conference tournament and topped fourth-seeded Mount Vernon Nazarene, 1-0, in the quarterfinals, before falling to top-seeded and No. 3 Spring Arbor, 4-1, in the quarterfinals.
Porter earned her third-straight CL First-Team nod as a defender. The senior played a major role in the backline for Taylor and helped the squad tally 11 shutouts, while adding two goals and two assists, with both goals being game-winners. The Galt, California native ended her career with 74 starts in 76 appearances and had four goals and five assists for 13 total points.
Zehr picked up her second-straight CL First-Team selection, after scoring 11 goals and dishing out nine helpers for 31 points. The senior was first in the league in assists per game (0.60), second in total points, points per game (2.07), goals per game (0.73), assists, third in game-winning goals per game (0.20), fourth in game-winning goals (3), shots on-goal per game (2.33), fifth in goals scored and shots per game (3.60). The forward finished her TU career with 30 goals and 16 assists for 76 points, while having nine game-winning netters.
Teevans received her first CL First-Team honor for the Purple and Gold. The freshman led the team with 12 goals, while adding four assists to help the squad. The forward ended her impressive-rookie season with 28 points and had two game-winning goals. The Barlett, Illinois product finished the season ranked fourth in the league in goals scored, points, fifth in points per game (1.47), goals per game (0.63), sixth in shots on-goal per game (1.89), ninth in assists and shots per game (2.79).
Toren finished her junior season with three goals and one assist en route to her first honorable mention selection. The defender was a key part of the Trojan backline and helped the squad earn 11 shutouts. Toren has started 20 matches in each of the last two seasons for TU.
Williams secured six blank sheets during her sophomore season as goalkeeper for the Trojans, while earning the honorable mention nod. The Fishers, Indiana native held a 9-4-4 record and made 17 starts in 18 appearances. Williams was fifth in the league in goals against average (0.78) and finished the year with 63 saves.
