Women's Soccer Earns Six CSC Academic All-District Awards

UPLAND, Ind. – The College Sports Communicators (CSC), formerly CoSIDA, announced the 2022 Academic All-District recipients for each of the three NCAA divisions, and the NAIA, and the Taylor University women's soccer team notched six recipients.
Hannah Dempsey, Hannah Brackenbury, Claire Massey, Claire Nieshalla, Emma Goebel, and Sophie Snyder were the six Trojans honored.
The Trojans goalie, Brackenbury, posted a 3.93 grade-point average while majoring in biomedical engineering to earn her second career CSC Academic All-District award. Brackenbury excelled between the posts, grabbing a career-high 61 saves while posting six shutouts through the end of the Crossroads League Tournament.
The Taylor defense was well represented, with Dempsey and Massey each earning the distinction. Dempsey, majoring in psychology, notched a 3.94 GPA to earn her second CSC award while commanding the defense in 16 starts before the NAIA First Round. Massey, also studying psychology, received her first CSC honors, keeping an impressive 3.86 GPA while also leading the team in assists with seven, which earned her First-Team All-Crossroads League honors.
In midfield Nieshalla nabbed her second CSC award, and Goebel secured her first. Following the theme of outstanding GPAs, Nieshalla posted a 3.95 while managing a courseload in public relations, and Goebel earned a 3.94 GPA while studying human physiology and preventative medicine. Nieshalla started 13 matches for the Trojans, while Goebel notched three goals in the regular season of her junior campaign.
Lastly, at the forward position, Taylor was represented by Snyder, who earned her first career CSC award. Snyder kept a terrific 3.93 GPA in her exercise science studies. The senior forward has been a menace up front, slotting home four goals and providing three assists for TU, before Thursday's NAIA Tournament match.
The CSC Academic All-District distinction is designed to recognize student-athletes for outstanding achievements, both in the classroom and on the field. In order to receive the honor, an athlete must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 or higher on a 4.0 scale, must have achieved sophomore status academically with at least one full year at their current institution, and must have participated in over half of the team's competitions as a key contributor during the current season. Each sport has a limit on nominations per school, with men's and women's soccer capped at six per university.
Student-athletes are nominated for the award by their institution's Sports Information Department and receive CSC Academic All-District honors if they meet the qualifications.
Taylor's six CSC All-District recipients will now advance to a ballot for CSC All-American honors, which will be voted on by members of the CSC, before being announced on December 6th, 2022.
