KANSAS CITY – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics recently announced its list of 2015 Daktronics NAIA Women's Cross Country Scholar-Athletes, with Taylor recording the second-highest total in the nation for the second-straight year with eight award winners.
In order to be eligible to be named an NAIA Scholar-Athlete, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade-point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved junior academic status at their current institution. Taylor had eight of its 10 eligible student-athletes receive the honor.
Cassie Crowder, Kathryn Gerig, Alyssa Hatteberg, Jane Hawks, Christina Lee, Sarina Oleson, Hannah Schroder and Haley White were among the 331 women's cross country student-athletes from around the nation to be named as 2015 NAIA Scholar-Athletes and were eight of the 40 student-athletes from the Crossroads League to be recognized.
Taylor's eight NAIA Scholar-Athletes led all Crossroads League teams and trailed only the 11 from Olivet Nazarene for the highest total in the nation.
TU ended the 2015 season with an 11th-place finish at the NAIA National Championships on November 21, marking the third-straight year that Taylor has finished 10th or 11th at nationals. The Trojans went 91-3 during the regular season, winning four races and taking a third-straight Crossroads League Championship.
