AVON, Ohio – The Crossroads League announced its weekly awards on Monday afternoon, touting Taylor University's Sarah Harden as the Crossroads League Female Runner of the Week for the third time this season.
Harden earned the accolade once again after finishing fourth-of-253 runners at the Great Lakes Invite on Saturday. The freshman ran a time of 18:25.98 for the second-best time of her young career and the third-fastest individual time of the season for the Trojans. The outing was Harden's fifth top-10 showing in as many races to open her career and gave the standout freshman a team-leading four sub-18:35 times this year.
Harden led a pack of five Trojans inside the top-15 at the race, helping TU post its second-fastest team time in program history. Taylor also topped a trio of top-15 programs at the event, including finishing 12 points better than No. 1 Aquinas.
Taylor picked up a pair of Athlete-of-the-Weed nods on Monday, with Austin Gunderson of the TU football squad also being honored, and now boasts 16 weekly awards so far during the 2017-2018 year.
No. 7 Taylor (67-2) will return to action on November 4, when it races for a fifth-straight Crossroads League Championship.
