ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Joel Mumaw highlighted the Trojans on the opening day of the Outdoor Track and Field National Championships as the senior advanced to the 1,500-meter finals on a day which had a pair of lightning delays.
Mumaw began the day for the men in the 1,500-meters and was an automatic qualifier for the finals on Friday after finishing third in his heat with a mark of 3:59.10. Mumaw is now ensured a better finish than 13th a year ago.
The 4x800-meter relay team finished 27th as Ethan Morgan, Bryce Noble, Luke Harber and Jordan Burden teamed up in the event, marking the first time that foursome raced together this year.
Weather throughout the day shifted the scheduled and eventually saw the steeplechase preliminaries and 10,000-meters pushed to Thursday as Jared Stayte and Ryan Hanak will represent the Trojans in those events.
