Stayte and Mumaw Qualify for Finals in Mile

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Jared Stayte and Joel Mumaw were the lone Trojans in action for the Taylor men's team on Friday at day-two of the 2026 NAIA National Championships. The duo took the track for the mile preliminaries and advanced into Saturday's finals.
Mumaw started things off by finishing third in the first heat to punch his ticket to the finals, crossing with a time of 4:17.45.
Stayte followed in a faster-paced second heat, claiming fifth in the heat with a time of 4:14.12 for TU's best time of the season in the event. Despite finishing fifth in the heat, Stayte had the fifth-fastest time in prelims to punch his ticket to Saturday's finals.
Mumaw and Stayte will lead things off for Taylor on Saturday, taking the track once again at 12:35 pm. Josh Forbes will follow in the pole vault at 1:15, with Nathan Burns, Ryan Hanak and Luke Harber racing in the 3,000-meters at 3:15 and the DMR lineup of Mumaw, Wade Jones, Bryce Noble and Burns closing the day at 5:00 pm.
