HARTFORD CITY, Ind. – Taylor men's indoor track and field swept the Crossroads League's weekly awards as sophomore Matt Hall and senior Kenny Higgins were named the Crossroads League's track and field athletes of the week, respectively.
Hall earned the weekly honor following a dominant performance in the 5000 meter run in which he defeated his closest competitor by over six seconds with a race time of 15:37.72 on Saturday at the IWU Wildcat Invitational. The sophomore from Crete, Ill., has already provisionally qualified for the event at the NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championships in May.
Higgins was named the Crossroads League field athlete of the week after a pair of solid performances at the IWU Wildcat Invitational on Saturday. The senior from Yorktown, Ind., tallied a second place finish in the weight throw with a toss of 16.47 meters, narrowly missing the NAIA provisional qualification mark of 16.50 meters. Higgins added a sixth place finish in the shot put with a heave of 14.39 meters.
The Trojans will be in action again on Saturday when Taylor competes at the Anderson University Invitational.
