Dye, Evans, Hall and King Named Academic All-District

UPLAND, Ind. – Taylor men's track and field's Tanner Dye, Ethan Evans, Matt Hall, and Scott King have each been named to the Capital One Academic All-District II team, as voted on and recently announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
The award recognizes student-athletes for outstanding achievements in the classroom, as well as on the field of play. To be eligible for the honor, an athlete must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.30 or higher on a 4.0 scale, have reached sophomore status academically with one full year at the current institution of enrollment and must have participated in over half of the team's competitions during the current season.
Dye, a sophomore from New Castle, Ind., carries a 3.98 GPA in mathematics. He qualified for the NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championships and finished 16th in the mile.
Evans, a senior from Muncie, Ind., carries a 3.40 GPA as an elementary education major. He was an All-Indiana Little State award winner while also earning All-Crossroads League honors and finishing 109th at the NAIA Cross Country National Championship last fall. He also raced his way to All-Crossroads League honors in the 10,000-meter run during the outdoor track and field season.
Hall, a sophomore from Crete, Ill., manages a 3.89 GPA in computer science systems. He won the 5,000-meter run in two separate meets this spring while adding three meet victories in the 1,500-meter run during the outdoor track season. Hall earned All-American honors for the second consecutive season in the 5,000-meter at the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships. Hall also earned All-Crossroads League honors in cross country and finished 52nd at the NAIA National Championships last fall. He also set a school record and finished 12th in the 5,000-meter run at the NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championships.
King, a senior from Yorkville, Ill., carries a 3.73 GPA in computer science systems. King was an All-Crossroads League performer for the TU cross country team in the fall, adding a 232nd place finish at the NAIA Cross Country National Championships. He was also named an NAIA Scholar-Athlete.
With four more student-athletes earning Capital One Academic All-District honors, Taylor's total number of student-athletes to receive the honor during the 2014-2015 year grows to 25. All four student-athletes will now be placed on the national ballot for the Capital One Academic All-America Team, which will be announced in June.
