Men's Track and Field Races to Victory

UPLAND, Ind. –The Taylor men's indoor track and field team enjoyed a successful day as the Trojans took first place in the five-team field at the Taylor Invitational on Saturday.
Junior Leslie Romer continued to impress as the sprinter cruised to a victory in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.95. Brandan Wilchcombe kept the TU success in the sprints going as the senior claimed the top spot in the 60-meter hurdles at 8.28.
Austin Goggans took third place in the 200-meter run with a time of 24.36.
The Trojans took spots two through four in the 600-meter run with Joey Ferguson leading the way followed closely by Schalk Van Niekerk and David Rodman.
The TU distance runners were dominant with the Trojans claiming five of the top six spots in the 3,000-meter. Aaron Scott was narrowly edged by Indiana Wesleyan's Steven Odladil for the top spot while Micah Bragg, Tanner Dye, Joe Beamish, and Jonathan Taylor all finished inside the top six.
Taylor also took the top three spots in the 5,000-meter with junior Matt Hall leading the way with a time of 15:25.61.
The Trojans also had some strong performances in field events with Harry Dantona winning the weight throw at 15.83 meters and taking third in the shot put with a toss of 13.67 meters.
Taylor's final tune-up before the NAIA Indoor National Championships will be next Saturday when the Trojans head to Greencastle, Ind., for the DePauw Invitational.
