Mumaw, Harber Hit NAIA Standards in Running Events
JOLIET, Ill. – The Taylor men's track and field team sent several members to the Saint Francis (Ill.) Fighting Chance Meet on Friday evening, where Joel Mumaw and Luke Harber hit NAIA A and B Standards in the 1,500 and 5,000 meters, respectively.
Mumaw highlighted TU's running performances, taking second in his section with a personal-record time of 3:51.51 – good enough to automatically qualify for NAIA Nationals in the 1,500 meters.
Harber also came through with a clutch 14:28.38 in the 5,000 meters, beating the B Standard in TU's fastest time of the season in the event.
Hunter Smith and Jordan Burden joined Harber as participants in the 5,000 meters, with Burden winning his section by finishing at a personal-best 15:01.76.
Competing in the hammer throw, Max Lambert achieved the team's second best mark of the season at 42.12 meters.
Pole vaulter Nathan Samson competed separately from the team on Friday at the Indiana State Sycamore Open, where he cleared his first mark of 4.18 meters.
Taylor concludes individual competition at the Fighting Chance Meet on Saturday.
