Burns, Forbes and Jones Pace TU at Midwest Classic
MARION, Ind. – Nathan Burns, Josh Forbes and Wade Jones won individual events on Saturday, as Taylor competed in the Indiana Wesleyan Midwest Classic.
Burns and Forbes hit the NAIA A-standard in their wins, with Burns winning the 3,000-meters and Forbes taking victory in the pole vault. Burns posted the fourth-fastest 3,000 time in the NAIA this season at 8:24.82, which converted to 8:19.02 and Forbes once again cleared 4.85 meters in the pole vault.
Jones led the pack in the 200-meters once again, crossing in 22.47 to take victory in the event for the second-straight meet.
Ryan Hanak and Luke Harber also had big days with NAIA B-standards to provisionally qualify for Nationals. Hanak followed Burns in the 3,000-meters in second place at 8:27.26 and Harber took third in the 5,000-meters with a time of 14:52.01.
Taylor showed well in two other events, taking second-through-fifth in the mile and finishing second in the 4x400-meter relay. Joel Mumaw led Jared Stayte, Jordan Burden and Cambel Brown across the line in the mile with a time of 4:15.26, while Orlando Chatwell, Jones, Carter Newman and Lextin Willis teamed to post a 4x400 time of 3:29.87.
TU will resume its indoor season at the Heartland Invite on February 13 and 14 in Indianapolis.
