4x800-Meter Relay Teams Hits Standard on Opening Day of CL Championships

MARION, Ind. – Taylor finished Thursday in fourth place at the Crossroads League Championships after picking up 29 points.
A pair of Trojans secured a pair of top four finishes in the 10,000-meters with Ryan Hanak clocking a personal best time of 31:02.86 to cross in second, before Luke Harber finished fourth with a time of 31:13.50, also a personal best for the senior.
The 4x800-meter relay team of Jared Stayte, Joel Mumaw, Ethan Morgan and Bryce Noble had an outstanding time in a fifth-place finish, provisionally qualifying for NAIA Nationals by hitting the NAIA B Standard with a mark of 7:39.41.
Nathan Samson and Josh Forbes finished third and seventh in the pole vault, as Samson impressed by clearing a personal-best height of 14 feet 9.25 inches.
Another pair of Trojans scored points for TU in the long jump. Lyndon Miller had a career-best leap of 20 feet 1 inch to finish sixth, and Carter Newman grabbed eighth with a distance of 19 feet 5.75 inches.
Drew Elzinga began competition in the decathlon, completing the first five events and currently sits in sixth with the final five events set for Friday.
A number of preliminary races for sprint events were held on Thursday, as Wade Jones qualified for the finals in both the 100 and 200-meters, and Spencer Stout moved onto the finals in the 110-meter hurdles.
The Crossroads League Championships conclude on Friday, May 1st at Indiana Wesleyan University, with the decathlon beginning the day at 9:00 am.
