Kristin Sommers

Kristin Sommers
Kristin Sommers
Bio

The 2025-2026 year is the eighth for Kristin Sommers as an assistant for the TU track and field program. Sommers provides expertise as the jumps coach for the Trojans.

In her time at Taylor, Sommers has overseen 23 athletes qualify for the NAIA indoor and outdoor championships and six athletes earn NAIA All-American honors in jumping events.

Sommers previously served as the head cross country coach and assistant track and field coach locally at Oak Hill High. Sommers served in that capacity from 2012 through 2018 and focused on the jumps, sprints and hurdles events with the OHHS athletes.

Sommers boasts plenty of previous experience at the collegiate level as well, having served on staff at Indiana Wesleyan from 1997 through 2006 after completing a standout career on the track for the Wildcats.

As a student-athlete at IWU, Sommers was a two-time NAIA All-American in the triple jump and set the program’s indoor and outdoor records for the long jump and triple jump.

Sommers graduated from Indiana Wesleyan with a degree in nursing.

Sommers and her husband, Robert, are the proud parents of two sons, Sammy and Brayden. Sammy (’23) was a member of the Taylor track and field squad from 2019-2023.
