JACKSON, Mich. – The reigning Crossroads League Newcomer of the Year, Sabrina Langerak, was named the CL Women's Golfer of the Week on Monday, as announced by the league office.
Langerak was recognized after topping a field of 40 competitors to win the Ackerman-Allen Shootout on April 18, firing scores of 73 and 75 to secure her third win in nine tournaments this season.
Langerak's four-over total of 148 during the 36-hole event gave her a four-shot victory and lowered her season average to 76.8 shots per round over 19 rounds. The win also marked the fifth time this season that Langerak had registered TU's top individual finish.
The honor is the first for the women's golf program this season and the first in the young career of Langerak, who joined Javan Johnson of men's golf and TJ Bass of baseball in being recognized on Monday. Taylor now boasts 46 athlete-of-the-week awards throughout the 2022-2023 year.
Langerak and No. 11 Taylor (63-21) will aim for the Crossroads League Championships, hosted by Huntington University at Chariot Run Golf Club in Laconia, Indiana on May 8 and 9.
