Crossroads League Names Daniels Defensive Player of Week
HARTFORD CITY, Ind. - Senior goalkeeper Kristiana Daniels of Taylor women's soccer has earned the honor of Crossroads League Defensive Player of the Week following her performance in a 1-0 win over Indiana Tech.
Indiana Tech totaled thirteen shots in the contest, six of which were on frame. Daniels however, an NAIA Scholar-Athlete in 2013, was able to come through when called upon to make all six saves.
"Daniels made a lot of key saves for us, one that she was able to tip off of the crossbar and catch on the way back down," said head coach Scott Stan following the win.
In its first outing of the season, the Taylor defense was solid in front of Daniels as well to preserve the shutout.
Daniels has previously claimed the same nomination after Taylor's 3-0 win over Saint Francis in last season's Crossroads League tournament semifinal.
Daniels and Taylor (1-0) will next take the field on August 29 at Grace College in a neutral field contest against NAIA No. 22 John Brown. Kick-off is scheduled for 5:00 pm.
