INDIANAPOLIS – Senior Lauren Pfeifer and sophomore Megan Kammer of Taylor women's soccer have each been named to the All-Crossroads League team, as announced by the league office on Tuesday.
Pfeifer has been an integral part of the defensive backline over her four years at Taylor. The Pittsboro, Indiana native was part of the defense a season ago that allowed just 0.95 goals-against per game. This season, Pfeifer helped the Taylor defense post five shutouts on the season, including one in the 1-0 win over then-No. 18 Mount Vernon Nazarene. She served as one of the primary corner kick takers for the Trojans this season and finished the year with one assist and seven total shots.
Kammer was also an integral part of the women's team this year. The central midfielder from Omaha, Nebraska finished the season with three goals and four assists. The sophomore finished second on the team in total shots (63), as well as shots on goal with 26. Kammer's biggest goal of the year came on the road at Mount Vernon Nazarene as her goal from 30 yards out served as the only goal of the game for the game-winner.
Jason Crist of Spring Arbor was named the league's Coach of the Year, while Spring Arbor freshman forward Bethany Balcer was named the Player of the Year.
Taylor's 2015 season came to an end on Saturday in the Crossroads League Tournament Quarterfinals against RV Marian 3-0. After playing to a 1-1 tie after extra time, the Knights defeated the Trojans 4-2 in a shootout. TU finished the season 8-8-3 on the year and 4-4-1 in Crossroads League play.
