UPLAND, Ind. – The Taylor women's soccer program scored four CoSIDA Academic All-District awards recently, with Erin Teevans, Linli Tu, Kate Kortenhoeven and Reyna Williams each receiving the prestigious award.
The four honors matched Taylor with the University of the Cumberlands for the top total of any school in District II, which consists of NAIA schools from the states of Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee. TU's four honors also placed the Trojans in a tie for the most of any NAIA women's soccer program in the nation.
Teevans earned her first CoSIDA Academic All-District honor with a 3.57 grade-point average in elementary education. The junior and two-time All-Crossroads League standout forward started 11-of-13 matches for the Trojans in 2020, scoring six goals and registering 15 points.
Tu collected her first CoSIDA recognition in her first year of eligibility with a 3.83 GPA, adding the honor on the heels of her NAIA All-American season in the fall. The junior midfielder started all 13 contests this season, adding a team-leading seven goals and 42 shots.
Kortenhoeven finished her junior year with a 3.97 grade-point average in psychology. The midfielder played in all 13 tilts for Taylor in the fall, starting seven times and passing up five assists to fuel the Trojan attack.
Williams was named CoSIDA Academic All-District for the second time in her career at Taylor, posting a 3.98 GPA in health promotion and wellness. The senior defender found herself in the TU starting lineup in all 13 games.
The CoSIDA Academic All-District award is designed to showcase student-athletes for outstanding work in the classroom, as well as on the field of play. In order to be eligible for the honor, an athlete must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.30, must have reached sophomore status academically with at least one full year at their current institution and must have participated in over half of the team's competitions as a key contributor during the current season.
Student-athletes are nominated for the award by their institution's Sports Information Department and selected via a national vote by members of CoSIDA.
Teevans, Tu, Kortenhoeven and Williams will now advance to the ballot for CoSIDA Academic All-American honors, which are set to be announced on July 8.
