Crossroads League Release | TU Honors Page
AVON, Ohio – The Crossroads League announced its 2018-2019 Preseason All-Crossroads League Teams and Coaches Poll on Wednesday. The Trojans were selected sixth, with Ryan Robinson and Mason Degenkolb each claiming Preseason Third-Team All-CL honors.
Robinson closed his breakout sophomore campaign with Third-Team All-Crossroads League recognition, after pacing the Trojans with 17.2 points and 3.6 assists per outing. The point guard ranked among the league's top-10 with 18.5 points, 3.9 assists and 2.4 triples per game with a 42.3-percent clip from deep over 18 league outings.
Degenkolb earned his second All-Crossroads League honor in as many years in the Purple and Gold backcourt, netting 14.8 points, 3.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.1 steals per night alongside Robinson last season. The scoring guard and 2016-2017 NAIA All-American closed his sophomore campaign just 29 points shy of 1,000 for his young career.
The Trojans completed the 2017-2018 campaign at 16-15 overall, a record that was flawed by six defeats that came via an overtime decision or a margin of six points and under. TU increased its scoring total for the third-straight season, ticking up to 82.4 points per night and is poised to push that number even higher as it returns its top-five scorers from a year ago.
Taylor collected 52 points in the poll, narrowly trailing Bethel (64) and Saint Francis (65) for a spot inside the top-four teams. Indiana Wesleyan led the poll with nine first-place votes and 99 points, with Marian (90) and Mount Vernon Nazarene (70) filling the top-three.
TU is set to begin its 2018-2019 campaign on October 30, when it hosts Northwestern Ohio in a 7:00 pm tip on Paul Patterson Court in Don Odle Arena.
