Trojans Open Season at Trine
ANGOLA, Ind. – The Taylor men's indoor track and field team opened its season at Trine University on Saturday.
Junior Leslie Romer had the highlight of the day for the Trojans as the Freeport, Bahamas native set a new school record and hit the NAIA automatic qualifying time en route to a second place finish in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.83.
Freshman Sam Lacher had a nice debut for the Trojans with a fourth place finish in the 400-meters with a time of 51.90 while fellow freshman Dakota Pritt finished closely behind in seventh place.
Harry Dantona hit a career personal record with a toss of 14.16 meters in the weight throw. Josiah Henson also hit a personal record with a leap of 5.95 meters in the long jump while Pritt finished closely behind at 5.89 meters.
The Trojans also secured their first outdoor track and field championship qualifiers as Aaron Scott and Aaron Crull hit the automatic qualifier mark and Ben Stuckey met the provisional qualifying mark for the marathon during a half marathon race in Grand Rapids.
Taylor won't return to action until after Christmas break when the team returns to campus in January.
