Trojans Take Second at Transylvania Invitational
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Taylor men's track and field team utilized a limited roster on Saturday but still managed to finish second at the Pioneer Invitational hosted by Transylvania University.
Sophomore Joseph Beamish provided one of the highlights of the day for the Trojans when he hit a lifetime personal record en route to a victory in the 5000-meter with a time of 15:40.94.
Freshman Benjamin Byrd also hit a lifetime personal best time in the 800-meter run, finishing second with a time of 1:56.59 while TU's Tanner Dye, Kyle Shelton, David Rodman, and Schalk Van Niekerk each finished inside the top ten in the event.
Senior Ben Stuckey raced to a second place finish in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 34:42.43.
Freshman Sam Lacher took second place in the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.32 while senior Noah Clayton raced to second in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 57.70.
Freshman Mitchell Herrington won the javelin with a throw of 48.93 meters. Harry Dantona also performed well in the field events for TU, taking second in the discus with a mark of 39.67 meters, and fourth in both the shot put (12.76 meters) and the hammer throw (39.96 meters).
Freshman Dakota Pritt added a second place finish in the high jump, clearing a height of 1.78 meters.
The Trojans are back in action on April 1 when TU heads to Indianapolis for the Marian Invitational.
