Anthony Advances to Finals at National Championships

GULF SHORES, Ala. – On the first day at the 2018 NAIA National Championships, the TU Trojans' Caleb Anthony punched his ticket into the finals of the 400-meter hurdles while a pair of relay teams closed their campaign on the national stage.
Anthony turned in the best time of the season in the 400-meter hurdles by clocking in at 52.62 seconds. The finish placed Anthony into the finals as the No. 2 seed just eight one-hundredths of a second off the best time of the day, which was recorded by Travis Thomas from Oregon Tech. The 400-meter hurdle finals are slated to be run on Saturday at 4:20 p.m.
Also in action on Thursday for the Trojans were the 4x800-meter relay team and the 4x100-meter relay squad. The foursome of Alec DeVries, Shauntis Lewis, Daniel Gerber and Ben Byrd finished the season with a 14th-place finish in the 4x8 with a time of 7:43.08 while the 4x100 squad of Coty Willis, Sam Lacher, Anthony and Heelak Lee took 28th with a time of 42.72 seconds.
Due to weather, the men's 10,000-meter that was scheduled to be the final event on Thursday has yet to be run. The results, which will include TU's Stephen Cho, will be made available as soon as possible.
Action will resume tomorrow for the Trojans at 1:45 p.m. with Anthony competing in the 110-meter hurdle trials.
