Bio
2015 at Taylor: Cornell played in 20 games for 36-16 Taylor, making 17 appearances as a pitcher with six starts in her sophomore season…Finished with a record of 7-2 from the circle in 53.2 innings pitched on the season…The seven wins ranked her at No. 15 in the Crossroads League…Posted an ERA of 3.39 to rank No. 13 in the Crossroads League…Though in a smaller sample size, she gave up just 60 hits on the season, the fewest allowed amongst all Crossroads League pitchers and No. 29 in the nation for that category…Also ranked first in the Crossroads League with just 35 runs allowed (No. 33 in the NAIA) and 26 earned runs allowed (No. 30 in the NAIA)…Threw 29 strikeouts and held opponent bats to a .271 average, 11th lowest mark in the league…Went five shutout innings to earn the win against Northwood (Fla.) on January 28, striking out five and allowing just two walks and three hits…Totaled a career-high six strikeouts in a complete game, 8-4 win from the circle against Bethel on April 24…Went 1-2 from the plate with a single to left field in that contest against the Pilots for her first career hit…Also came around to score a run against Saint Francis on April 6 after entering as a pinch runner in the 15-4 game two win….Pitched four innings in three appearances during the Crossroads League Tournament, allowing just one unearned run and one hit against while holding opponent bats to a .071 average.
2014 at Taylor: Made ten appearances as a freshman pitcher for the Trojans, posting an ERA of 2.86 and a record of 1-0 in 22 innings pitched, earning her first collegiate win in Taylor’s season opening 8-6 victory against Northwood (Fla.)…Conceded nine earned runs with nine walks and nine strikeouts on the season...Taylor finished 42-17 overall for the most wins in program history for a season, highlighted by a Crossroads League regular season and tournament title and the program’s first win in the NAIA National Tournament, a 4-3 victory in extra-innings over Georgetown (Ky.)
Prep: Cornell is a native of Vinton, Iowa and attended Vinton-Shellsburg High School…Lettered all four years in softball and received both All-Conference and All-Conference Honorable Mention honors during her career in the WaMAC conference…Won an Athletic Academic Excellence for the WaMAC…Broke multiple school pitching records at Vinton-Shellsburg…Played club softball with the Cobras…Won an Academic Achievement Award and had a 4.0 GPA…Member of the National Honor Society…Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS) score award winner for high percentile rankings.
