Taylor Outscores Grace 22-2 in Dominant Sweep on the Road

WINONA LAKE, Ind. – Taylor was dominant on Friday in a sweep of Grace (12-32, 6-24) on the road, outscoring the hosts 22-2 in a pair of run-rule victories.
The Trojans had contributions from throughout the lineup on Friday in a convincing sweep of Grace to solidify their spot in fourth in the Crossroads League.
Every starter had a hit throughout the twin billing, with seven of them producing a multi-hit game. Madisyn Standridge had an incredible day as she continues to thrive after being moved up to second in the batting order. The senior tallied three hits, four RBI, and three runs including a triple and a home run.
Taylor took advantage of four errors by Grace scoring nine unearned runs enroute to a 14-2 win in the opener before holding the Lancers scoreless in an 8-0 victory in the nightcap.
The top three in the batting order, Jayci Kitchen, Standridge, Bella Browning each had two hits, two runs, and at least one RBI in the opening victory while Kaylee Larkin launched her ninth home run of the season.
Taylor left the bases loaded in the first before exploding for five runs in the second followed by two in the third and seven in the fourth for the comfortable victory.
The nightcap saw Standridge and Delaynee McCreary each drive in three runs while Ava Everman went a perfect 3-3 at the plate with two runs scored.
A six-run second gave TU an early advantage before scoring two with a two-out rally in the fifth to get ahead by eight and intact the run-rule victory after a scoreless bottom of the inning.
Inside the circle, Lizzy Sinders (9-6) threw a five-inning shutout for her ninth win of her debut campaign. The freshman had five punchouts to counter four hits and a walk to quiet the Lancer offense. Claire Cullen (9-6) was dynamic in the opener, producing seven strikeouts in five innings. The sophomore righty allowed six baserunners and two runs to earn her ninth win of the year.
Taylor (22-20, 17-13 CL) finishes the road portion of its regular season schedule with a doubleheader against Saint Francis (28-8, 24-4 CL) on Saturday, April 18th, with first pitch pushed back an hour to 2:00 pm.
